Kodiak trotted on. He was hot and thirsty after traveling so far from home. He was relieved to smell the scents of water and wet plants. "There must be a river nearby." He thought. And he soon came upon it. It was a beautiful river, surrounded by green grass and trees. Kodiak trotted over to the edge and lapped up the cold refreshing water. That's when he smelled it. A scent mark. He was on another wolf's land! He quickly lifted his nose to smell that two other wolves had passed around here earlier. "Uh oh!" He thought. "Stranger wolves are never pleased when they find other wolves on their territory. I better get out of here!"Kodiak quickly changed direction and ran away.

Like a shadow Willow trotted along. Her sleek, silver fur blew in the wind. She trotted away from Celeste, running up river. Ears pulled back and tail flying out behind her like a silver flag. A distant smell of another wolf was the only thing to stop Willow clean in her tracks. Willow turned around and put her nose to the wind. She then jumped into the river and swam across. When she got to the other side she jumped out the river and shook her fur. Then she began to trot towards the scent of this wolf, who didn't smell like any of her pack. A while of trotting brought her closer and closer to this stranger. Until she him. The wolf was only a pup though, probably 7 or 8 months old. Willow didn't want to spook the pup so she came up to the wolf and spoke: "Hello there, you know, your on the Dancing Stones territory."

The dominant female padded along the river bank, her tail swaying lazily as she happily lead her new pack member along the river. Preferring to let the sheer power and awe of nature do the talking as she walked silently, the water was still rather high after the heavy rain. Shifting her head till she could take in Snowflower with a simple side glance she gave a friendly smile before her eyes caught the form of Willow as she pulled herself out of a calmer part of the water. Curious the female followed the female with her eyes as she steadily held her pace, her magma colored gaze pinpointing the area where Willow's attention was directed instantly spotting a small running form. A pup?
Now even more curious the female signaled to Snowflower to slow as she turned crossing in front of the white female's path as she moved to intercept the puppy. Her head lower tail wave back and forth in a friendly manner as she gave a small smile waiting to hear this stranger's answer.

Kodiak stopped at the sound of the stranger wolf's voice. He had been upwind of the stranger and hadn't scented her. He turned around to see a silver female stating at her, in a relaxed friendly position. He immediately lowered his head and pressed back his ears against his head in submission. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to trespass on your pack's territory." Kodiak replied. But then he thought that maybe this she-wolf could use another strong pup in her pack. He had no idea if this was the pack's lead wolf or not. "But I am looking to join a pack," Kodiak added. "I'm very fast and strong!" He hoped to impress this wolf then maybe he'd get a place in the pack. But he didn't want to boast anymore, so he waited to see what the she-wolf would do.

Willow smiled and felt her tail began to wag. "I see that you look strong, and l saw that you are fast for a pup your age." She barked in reply. "But I'm not leader of this pack. I'm Willow, The Dancing Stones Pack's lead hunter, or Amber." Willow then tipped her wet nose to the air. She smelled countless items of the forest and tree peelings, twigs, and leaves being carried by the nearby river. But then she smelled the familiar scent of another wolf, heading in her direction. But not just any wolf, it was Rayen. "Our Rubie, Rayen, is coming this way." Barked Willow. "She is a generally friendly wolf, and I'm sure that she would accept you in our pack if you want to join."
Suddenly Willow heard a twig snap several yards to her right. She turned to see only a canopy of green brush. When she looked harder she could soon make out Rayen's shape, then she spotted Flower behind her. Willow smiled, "hello Rayen and Snowflower." she barked.

The dark brown wolf nodded a greeting to Willow, having heard the pup's request to join and Willow's response the female had no need to ask questions other then one very important one. "I would be more then happy to accept such a strong and willing pup into my pack," She said, "But first I need to know what you are called by. " Sitting the dominant female awaited the pup's answer her eyes lifting from his small form to that of Willow's. "I see you are getting along well, you are quite the swimmer. Even in the calmer parts the river has become quite swift due to the heavy rain, but you managed it without fail where did you learn to swim like that?"
It was a simple question and compliment, an attempt to get a conversation started while at the same time a chance to learn more about her fellow pack-mate as she offered a chance to open up and perhaps even a chance to brag about oneself. Either way it was an attempt to come closer to Willow.

Kodiak's gaze fell upon a dark brown wolf. She had to be the pack leader, she was sitting tall and proud the dominant wolves were usually. "Um...I'm Kodiak," He said. He tried to remember how to greet a leader. He put down his grey ears and tucked his tail, the way his pack taught him. "I come here from the Wind Lake Pack, very faraway from here...but I'm a loner now and I come to join a pack." The female Rayen asked how learned to swim so well."I learned to swim at my old pack. You see The Wind Lake Pack has tons of rivers and lakes, My den was built on the largest lake in our territory, so I learned to swim really young, so did all my brothers and sisters." Suddenly his happiness left him and he felt lonely. Kodiak missed his old friends and siblings, he wondered what they were doing now. "I really liked my old pack." Kodiak said in a sad voice. "I was taken away by a human, now I miss my friends."Kodiak tried to wipe the sadness from his voice. "But I would love to join yours."

Rayen kindly listened as Kodiak answered the question she had given the adult Willow, apparently thinking it was for him even though he hadn't swam the river only Willow had been the one to swim her still dripping pelt was proof of that. Her ears twitched and her eyes softened at the last sad words the pup spoke." I am sorry to hear that, humans are strange creatures their actions are not normal they never act the same twice." She said, reflecting upon the times she had seen humans in her travels and how they all reacted so differently to her presence. They weren't like any prey animal she had ever met, you could always trust an elk or buffalo to do nearly the same things every time, only weather and other varying circumstances made it uncertain how such reactions effected what. But these humans, they were different using strange shiny beast to carry themselves around in, while they had no sharp teeth our claws their pelts were a wide range of colors that dazzled the ye and but even the most brightly clad bird to shame.
Yes, they were a strange breed, strange and very dangerous, she was glad they never entered her pack's home. "You are free to join are pack, Dancing Stones accepts all who are willing to abide by our rules." She smiled.

Willow gave a sympathetic whine. "Humans are such strange animals," Willow then mumbled. "They can't just stay in their own territories, they're always going around and harassing innocent animals." Willow's brother, Ash, had been killed when he was shot in his shoulder. The bullet hadn't killed him, it was days later that his wound began to make him ill. Willow found him over a week later, but it had already been too late for Ash. Anyway back to Willow, who was standing by Kodiak and in front of Rayen. "We would really love to have you in our pack Kodiak, if you want to join."

(its alright, we all make mistakes. ^^)
Rayen nodded in agreement with Willow's words about humans, muttering words of comfort and apology when she heard of her brother's death by their hands. But she was not one to dwell on the past or depressing matters for to long...at least not show it on the outside as a smile spread across her face at Kodiak's words. "Then welcome to Dancing Stones Kodiak." She chuckled.

Her eyes gleamed at them all as they came to the river. "Hello ladies." The warrior moved away and sat on her rump lazily as she watched them all. Most of them she knew but some wolves were not recognizable to her. "Perhaps I have yet to introduce myself.." She yawned and sighed. "Hmm.. maybe I should be polite and wait for them to approach me. I'm not a good conversation starter.." She smirked at her amusing thoughts and scanned the area for Terry. "Seems he's been absent.." She snorted in disappointment.

Rayen nodded a greeting to Celeste, "Hello Celeste." She said, her tail swishing in the grass causing a stirring hissing noise. A crisp cool wind blew tugging at the female's dark fur, warning her of the coming cold. She frowned at the thought that the weather would soon grow chilly, hunting would become harder night would grow longer her pack would have to work hard and well together to make it through the winter.

'Hello Celeste.' she heard Rayen say. Snowflower turned around to see the she wolf that had approached her the first time. "So, your name is Celeste."she said. "Hello Celeste, I'm Snowflower."she introduced once more.
